Aurora portrait study

Hi friends!

Just wanted to say that I have actually been writing a blog post for this blog … which has been taking ages! It’s super long, and maybe not going to appeal to everyone, but I have wanted to write it for a while. It’s just about my ‘art goals’ from having worked at the games studio to now… and how they have changed 🙂

In the mean time, here’s some progress pictures of a portrait study I started of Aurora (the singer). I actually think the portrait is kind of … not good! But, overall it was a good experience for me as I got some practice with colour and light. Since that was the main aim of the study (rather than likeness, aesthetics, etc), then I feel that it was a positive experience for me overall!

Thanks for looking, more posts to come. I think I will do more of these shorter posts in the future – looking at particular studies etc. that I have done, perhaps also spotlighting artists that I admire, why, and what could be learned from them. We shall see!

Thanks, and take care during this wild year.

It would also be remiss of me were I to not mention whats going on in the world – at least briefly – I am not good at articulating my thoughts on social justice, and I am still learning… but am 100% behind the Black Lives Matter movement and protests. If you are looking to help, BLM have a page you can check out here.

Going from here I want to donate more, attend events and protests more in the future (currently can’t as C is vulnerable to covid-19 so we are pretty much isolating), seek out & support more black owned businesses and expand my reading re: books by BIPOC in all genres, books about BIPOC histories, etc.
